Kiosks Honor American History & Sacrifice

4th of July

This July 4th, the United States is celebrating 243 years of independence! Americans know how important it is to honor the people who have kept us free and safe all those years. All across our country, any time of the day or night, interactive kiosks and memorial software help people remember and connect with their lost loved ones. Advanced Kiosks considers it a solemn duty and great privilege to help our clients memorialize their fallen heroes.

Fallen Hero Memorials

Back in 2011, Advanced Kiosks teamed up with Massachusetts Fallen Heroes to create a custom kiosk solution: software that enables organizations to piece together service records, newspaper clippings, family photos and mementos into individualized, eternal memorials for each veteran. Widespread demand for these interactive kiosk memorials led to the birth of our Tribute Kiosk Software. The Fallen Heroes platform has been used to honor deceased military as well as first responders and police officers killed in the line of duty.

The Fallen Officers Memorial Wall in Jacksonville, Florida, features an outdoor Enviro Kiosk with interactive tributes to each of 61 lost heroes.

In addition to digital biographies, wayfinding is an essential component of these memorials, helping loved ones find the names and final resting places of those they have lost. The Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman, Montana, uses an outdoor Transit Kiosk to help visitors find both names on their Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall replica and graves across the 73-acre cemetery. Our crowning achievement in this sphere was delivering a fleet of kiosks to Arlington National Cemetery, our nation’s most hallowed ground. Advanced Kiosks was responsible for the complete package: kiosk hardware, software, security and integration. We painstakingly customized every aspect of the physical and digital user experience. When the time came, Advanced Kiosks President Howard Horn was on site to personally oversee delivery and installation. Nothing could’ve kept him away: “No words can describe the supremely humbling feeling of being among the hundreds of thousands of fallen heroes who have been laid to rest on Arlington’s hallowed grounds,” said Horn. “From start to finish, the whole experience was a constant rush of pride in both my company and my country.”

Government Kiosks to Serve & Educate

We are understandably proud of the role we’ve been able to play in honoring our nation’s heroes. Additionally, at all levels of government, people are using Advanced kiosks to keep our nation strong. You’ll find our interactive kiosks in cities and towns throughout America, helping citizens apply for permits, pay traffic tickets, or learn about local history and natural resources. VA hospitals are using queuing kiosks for patient check-in. The U.S. Naval Academy Museum uses an informational kiosk to educate visitors. And we were able to recondition competitor’s kiosks for the Rhode Island National Guard, which now takes them all over the state to recruit the next generation of heroes. Advanced Kiosks is a certified GSA Advantage supplier. That means government agencies know they are getting the best prices on quality products that meet all federal requirements.

Happy 4th of July!

Did we mention the National Park Service uses our kiosks to check-in and register visitors for campsites? So, if you happen to be spending your 4th of July holiday exploring this great nation, you may just get to interact with one of our self-service solutions. That’s right. Whether you spend your Independence Day honoring, educating or recreating, there’s an interactive kiosk ready to serve you. If you have the misfortune of being stuck in the office for the holiday, we suggest devoting some time to cooking up a kiosk project that will lighten your workload. Send us an email and tell us all about it. Our technical project consultants will help you make the dream a reality!   Written by Amy Robison, contributing author
