  • Industry: Federal Government
  • Product: Custom Secure Computer Enclosure for Touchless Identity Solution (TIS)
  • Kiosk Model: Custom TSA Secure Checkpoint Kiosk System
  • Customer: ASRC Federal Agile Decision Sciences, LLC
  • Program: Transportation Security Administration – Screening at Speed Initiative

Background

In partnership with ASRC Federal, Advanced Kiosks engineered and deployed secure self-service enclosures supporting TSA’s Touchless Identity Solution (TIS) initiative. The objective was clear: enhance throughput, maintain strict security controls, and improve the passenger experience, all within the demanding physical constraints of active checkpoint environments.

To support the TSA Touchless Identity Solution (TIS), a secure and adaptable hardware platform was required. The enclosure needed to protect high-performance government-issued laptops, integrate seamlessly into varied airport layouts, and withstand constant public-facing use.

Advanced Kiosks, in collaboration with Agile Decision Sciences, LLC (a subsidiary of ASRC Federal), was selected to engineer and manufacture the solution.

What This Deployment Required

  • Purpose-Built Secure Enclosure Engineering
Custom hardware architecture designed specifically to protect government-issued high-performance computing equipment within active TSA checkpoint environments.

  • Federal System Integration Support
Mechanical and structural design aligned with federally managed Touchless Identity Solution (TIS) hardware, ensuring secure housing without interfering with system performance or compliance protocols.

  • Multi-Site National Deployment Readiness
Coordinated production and delivery supporting rollout across 15 international airports, with additional units scheduled for phased expansion.

  • Compliance-Focused Fabrication Standards
Reinforced steel construction, controlled access design, and manufacturing processes aligned with federal physical security expectations.

  • Prime Contractor Collaboration
Direct coordination with ASRC Federal and its subsidiary Agile Decision Sciences to meet integration timelines, field deployment schedules, and evolving program requirements.

  • Scalable Manufacturing & Logistics Execution
Concord, NH-based production enabling rapid prototyping, iterative refinement, and scalable fabrication to support national expansion.

Operational Challenge

Airport security checkpoints are among the most demanding public environments in the country. The solution needed to:

  • Meet strict federal physical security standards

  • Protect sensitive screening hardware

  • Maintain stable cooling for high-performance computing systems

  • Fit into multiple checkpoint layouts without disrupting flow

  • Allow rapid deployment under an aggressive national timeline

  • Support evolving TSA screening configurations

A modified off-the-shelf enclosure would not meet the performance or security criteria. The project required a ground-up redesign.

Engineering & Implementation

Advanced Kiosks engineered a purpose-built secure enclosure optimized specifically for TSA checkpoint operations.

Key design elements included:

  • Reinforced steel frame construction

  • High-security locking mechanisms

  • Restricted-access service doors

  • Compact footprint with portability for flexible placement

  • Adjustable mounting to accommodate varying airport layouts

  • Fan-assisted, filtered cooling system to stabilize internal laptop temperatures

All design and manufacturing were completed at the company’s Concord, New Hampshire facility. Rapid prototyping using 3D-printed components allowed engineering iterations to occur in-house, compressing development timelines while maintaining strict quality controls.

ASRC Federal led field deployment and integration within active airport environments, enabling TSA’s Touchless Identity Solution rollout across major U.S. airports.

Deployment Impact

  • 26 next-generation TIS kiosks currently deployed across 15 high-volume international airports
  • 20 additional kiosks scheduled for deployment by year end

The system now supports:

  • Secure, touchless identity verification workflows

  • Improved checkpoint efficiency

  • Flexible configuration for evolving security needs

  • Reduced physical footprint within screening lanes

  • Stable performance in high-traffic operational environments

By combining security engineering with installation flexibility, the solution supports TSA’s mission to improve throughput without compromising screening integrity.

CPARS

Our Latest Contractor Performance Assessment Reporting System (CPARS) Evaluation:

  • QUALITY: Exceptional
  • SCHEDULE: Very Good
  • COST CONTROL: Very Good
  • MANAGEMENT: Exceptional
  • SMALL BUSINESS SUBCONTRACTING: Exceptional
The CPARS rating is used in part to document contractor performance on federal awards. According to the CPARS website, that information includes “the contractor’s record of conforming to requirements and to standards of good workmanship; forecasting and controlling costs; adherence to schedules, including the administrative aspects of performance; reasonable and cooperative behavior and commitment to customer satisfaction; reporting into databases; integrity and business ethics; and business-like concern for the interest of the customer.”
