Maine Department of Health and Human Services (OFI)
- Industry: Government / Health & Human Services
- Product: Documentation Kiosk
- Deployment: 58 kiosks, 16 regional offices
- Software: Zamok browser lockdown + full software suite
Background
Advanced Kiosks entered into a four-year agreement with the Maine Department of Health and Human Servicesā Office for Family Independence (OFI) to manufacture and maintain 58 turnkey self-service kiosks across 16 regional offices statewide. The kiosks let Maine residents apply for and manage state assistance benefits on their own, at any DHHS office in the state.
Business Challenge
- Residents needed a way to apply for and manage state benefits without depending on staff availability
- Paper-based applications were slow, resource-heavy, and raised security concerns
- Staff time was tied up in routine application processing rather than higher-level work
- The system had to integrate with OFIās existing benefits system and roll out consistently across 16 offices
- As a multi-year state contract, the deployment needed ongoing maintenance and project management, not just hardware
Solutions Delivered
Advanced Kiosks delivered 58 Documentation Kiosks across all 16 Maine DHHS offices, along with project management and its full software line configured to work with OFIās system.
Each kiosk is equipped with:
- Zamok browser lockdown for secure, controlled access
- VOIP calling, document scanning, and printing
- Credit card processing and peripheral hardware

Outcome
The Maine DHHS deployment gives residents statewide a consistent, self-service way to handle benefits applications at any of 16 regional offices, without waiting on staff. By moving applications to secure, locked-down kiosks, the department cut paperwork, tightened security, and redirected staff time toward work that needs a human.
As a four-year, 58-kiosk agreement spanning the state, the project reflects a sustained partnership, Advanced Kiosks handling manufacturing, maintenance, project management, and software integration, giving Maine a durable, supported platform for delivering assistance services.
