Background:

The Downtown Waycross Development Authority sought to celebrate the city’s rich railroad heritage and strengthen its downtown tourism presence. With growing interest in revitalizing the historic train depot area, the organization wanted to create an engaging, family-friendly attraction that would also promote local businesses and events.

Business Challenge:

Waycross needed a modern, interactive solution that could simultaneously educate visitors, support local merchants, and highlight the area’s cultural history. The system had to be easy to manage by staff, appeal to both adults and children, and function reliably within a busy public setting.

Solutions Delivered:

Advanced Kiosks designed and deployed the CityGuide Solution on two custom 49” Pinnacle Service Kiosks—one located inside the train depot and another in the adjacent caboose.

• Depot Kiosk: A digital tourism guide featuring business listings, event calendars, and a live Rail Cam stream.

• Caboose Kiosk: A children’s educational exhibit with train-themed games and historical displays.
  Both kiosks share a consistent forest-green and gold visual theme and are managed through a simple backend portal that allows staff to update listings, events, and media content.

Outcomes:

The new kiosks upgraded the downtown train depot into an interactive visitor destination. Tourists and residents now enjoy real-time event information, local business discovery, and hands-on learning experiences. The project successfully blends education, entertainment, and promotion—strengthening Waycross’s identity as a historic, family-oriented community hub.
