TSA Rolls Out Touchless Identity Kiosks at Airport Checkpoints

Moving millions of passengers safely through airport security requires more than new policies or additional staff. It requires technology that can perform reliably under constant pressure, strict security standards, and rapidly changing operational demands.

That is exactly what Advanced Kiosks®, in collaboration with ASRC Federal, delivered for the Transportation Security Administration. In February 2026, TSA formally approved publication of a press release highlighting the deployment of secure self screening stations used at its checkpoints. That approval signals more than media clearance. It reflects confidence in a solution engineered specifically for high security, high volume environments.

Built for TSA’s Screening at Speed Initiative

As part of TSA’s modernization efforts, the project focused on creating secure computer enclosures to support touchless identity verification at checkpoints. Rather than adapting an off-the-shelf product, the team developed a new design tailored to TSA’s operational requirements.

Secure federal self-service kiosk for airportsAirport checkpoints present unique challenges:

  • Continuous public exposure
  • Strict physical security requirements
  • Limited space and changing layouts
  • High performance computing needs
  • Minimal tolerance for downtime

What started as a plan to modify an existing design quickly evolved into a full custom redesign to meet TSA’s operational and security requirements.

Advanced Kiosks did not simply modify hardware. The team engineered a purpose-built system that delivers:

  • Reinforced steel framing and high security locking mechanisms
  • Restricted access service doors
  • Flexible mounting and adjustment to fit varying airport layouts
  • Compact footprint with portable placement options
  • Fan assisted, filtered cooling to protect high performance government issued laptops
  • Every detail was designed to support secure identity verification in high traffic, security sensitive environments.

From Prototype to Deployment Fast

Speed mattered.

Design and manufacturing were completed at Advanced Kiosks’ Concord, New Hampshire facility, where in house prototyping and 3D printed components accelerated development under an aggressive timeline.

Once finalized, the kiosks were deployed in the field by ASRC Federal to support TSA’s Touchless Identity Solution (TIS), enabling secure identity processing at checkpoints. This was not outsourced production. It was responsive engineering, rapid iteration, and controlled manufacturing, all delivered under tight deadlines to ensure TSA received a secure, fully functional solution on time.

Today, 26 next generation TIS kiosks are operational across 15 high volume international airports, with 20 additional units scheduled for installation by year end.

For federal programs, scale and reliability are not optional. They are expected.

Why This Matters for Government Technology Programs

Checkpoint modernization is about more than adding equipment. It is about engineering systems that balance:

  • Security
  • Thermal performance
  • Installation flexibility
  • Operational durability

This TSA initiative builds on Advanced Kiosks’ federal track record, including deployments for the U.S. Department of State, the Department of the Interior, U.S. military bases, and other state and federal agencies.

Formal TSA approval of the press release confirms that the deployed equipment meets agency standards and is appropriate for public acknowledgment.

In high security environments, that level of validation matters.

Looking Ahead

As airport traffic continues to rise and identity verification technologies evolve, secure, adaptable infrastructure will remain essential to checkpoint efficiency.

Government agencies require partners who can move from design to deployment without compromising security, compliance, or performance.

If your agency is evaluating secure identity, checkpoint modernization, or mission critical self service infrastructure, partner with a manufacturer that can design, build, and deliver under federal standards. Connect with Advanced Kiosks to discuss how a purpose built solution can support your operational and security objectives.
